KOBE CLOSING IN ON HISTORY

Feb. 1 -- Unless you've been living under a rock the past week-and-a-half, you've heard all about the historical significance of Kobe Bryant's 81 point game versus the Toronto Raptors on Jan. 22. In an age when it seemed as if the days of single-handed dominance was over, Bryant's eruption, the second-greatest point total ever by an individual, sent shockwaves throughout the basketball world.
What you may not realize about Bryant's performance that day was that it put him in close proximity to more than just one milestone. For as long as Elias Sports Bureau has been tracking players' scoring averages in the fourth quarter, no athlete has been able to average double-figures in that category on a season.

Bryant's 28-point fourth quarter outburst versus Toronto has him in arm's reach of doing just that. His league-leading 9.3 points per fourth quarter scoring average jumped over half a point (0.53) to a figure of 9.9.

Against Golden State the very next contest, Bryant's 16 fourth-quarter points -- the 10th consecutive fourth quarter he had reached double-figures -- gave the superstar guard a 10.0 point per game final period average.
Elias Sports Bureau first began tracking the stat during the 1997-98 season, but since that time, nobody has come close to averaging 10 points per game. Tracy McGrady's 8.6-point fourth quarter average during the 2002-03 season is the highest achieved for a completed season.

Bryant owns two of the five greatest averages (8.1 ppg in '04-05 and 7.6 ppg in '02-03), as does Allen Iverson (7.7 in '01-02 and 7.5 in '00-01

The night Wilt Chamberlain had
his 100-point performance, on March 2, 1962, the Hall of Fame center tallied 31 points in the final period, allowing him to reach the century mark for the game. At the time, it was a record for most points scored in a quarter, a record that was ultimately broken on April 9, 1974 when David Thompson (32 points, first quarter) and George Gervin (33 points, second quarter) re-wrote the record books twice in one day to conclude perhaps the greatest scoring race in NBA history.

This season, with three players averaging over 30 points per game for the first time in 24 years, the scoring race is shaping up to be a classic as well. Not surprisingly, Bryant is leading the way, with his final period average representing more than one-fourth of his total mark of 36.0 points per game.
What does that tell us? Well, that Bryant turns it on down the stretch.
Of course, unless you've been living under a rock the last 10 years, you already knew that.

THE AGE OF AQUARIUS

Almost Everybody Im Associated With Is Born Under This Star...From One Of My Children, to Several Close Friends!
I can count at least 8 off the top f my head! Well Happy Bithday all of you "Waterbearers"...Even you Dara Lynn***

Joining hearts and hands across the electronic Gnostic world
The Age of Aquarius

Aquarius: The Water Bearer
A race lasts as long as the sun's journey lasts around the zodiacal belt. Our race was born in the constellation of Aquarius during the age of the water bearer, after the universal flood.
Now the end is near, since the journey of the solar system has ended; it has returned after many years, to the point of origin, since in these precise moments we find ourselves in the Age of Aquarius.
This age began on February 4th, 1962 between 2 and 3 PM in the afternoon. At that time, all the astronomers of the world, could see with their telescopes the celestial traffic jam under the constellation of the water bearer; what we are saying is therefore, duly documented. We are not affirming anything that would not have proper documentation.
If someone says that the Age of Aquarius has not begun or for that matter what others sustain that it began much earlier than February 4, 1962, what does it matter to science or to us? The crude reality is that the Age of Aquarius began on the date we have mentioned, February 4, 1962, and this was seen in all the countries of the world, by scientists, astronomers, astrologers, etc. It is an official, concrete, proven fact.
At that time, there was an eclipse of the sun and of the moon that some persons might recall; few degrees remain then, for the journey of the solar system of Aquarius to reach exactly the initial point of the original point of departure.
The astronomers of the whole world were witness to something unexpected. All the planets at that time, had to pass through an alley of worlds. All the planets of our solar system met in council under the constellation of Aquarius; such an event reallyonly happens when an age occurs. And so, in this manner, facts are facts and when faced with the facts we have to surrender.
We are not making utopic affirmations. What we emphasize has been duly verified from all astronomical observatories. Therefore, obviously it was on the above mentioned date that the Age of Aquarius began among the august thunder of thought.
Many have predicted a "Golden Age" after the year 2000. They certainly believe that the Age of Aquarius with all its splendor and beauty has to fully manifest beyond the year 2000. The disappearance of borders is predicted. It is believed that this humanity will go through a radical transformation after the year 2000.
Obviously my dear brothers, such prophecies fail, they are nothing but mere sophisms. And what is a sophism? A wall without foundations, just a slight push converts it into mere sediment.
Unquestionably it is not possible that the psychological "I" of the masses be able to really create a Golden Age; it would be absurd to suppose that the collective ego could give origin to an age of light and beauty.
Within us there are those factors of discord that produce wars, egotism, hatred, violence, lust; when egotism and violence are collectively expressed then war appears on the stage of life.
Do you believe that in these circumstances the ego could create an age of fraternity and love? With which workers will we build the edifice of the Age of Aquarius? Who are those masses capable of establishing on the face of the earth the age of splendor and love?
Those of you who know people very well, who converse with your fellow men, who know what a struggle it is to earn one's daily bread, who know what envy is, who have suffered and who have caused to suffer, could you accept the thesis that these people who live alongside us are capable of beginning an age of beauty and splendor? It is said that the tree is known by its fruits.
Therefore reflecting sincerely, with all my heart, those who prophesy an age of beauty and splendor after the year 2000, are, therefore, mistaken. To create one has to destroy...When we clearly observe the zodiacal sign of Aquarius, we can evince extraordinary things. Aquarius is the house of Uranus and Saturn. Uranus is a revolutionary, terrible, catastrophic planet and it controls the sexual glands. Saturn, obviously, reminds us of chaos, the return to the point of original departure.
Leo is the zodiacal sign of fire, it is a revolutionary and tremendous sign. Aquarius, dominated by chaos, is death; Uranus is revolution. Leo is burning fire; obviously, the lion of the law comes to meet humanity, who is already ripe for the final punishment.
If we meditate on this, we arrive at the conclusion that the times of the end have arrived, that we are in them...
Therefore, let us reflect...Are we perchance happy? Who can talk of happiness in these times? We find ourselves then, face-to-face with ourselves, with our own destiny, faced with the dilemma of being or non-being of philosophy.
The hour has arrived then, to profoundly reflect. Who are we? Where are we going? What is the object of existence? Why do we live and for what purpose?
Excerpt from "The Age of Aquarius and Hercolubus"by Samael Aun Weor

What does Age of Aquarius mean?
"What lies ahead for Humanity? With all the problems we have, it's hard to believe our future is bright. Inflation and recession, environmental deterioration, diminishing resources, unrest and oppression in developing countries, and apathy, loneliness and lack of direction in developed ones all combine to severely cloud the horizon....
It may seem fantastic, but the signs in the heavens point to an extraordinary renewal in the years just ahead. If we recall some recent trends, this prospect doesn't seem so outlandish. It wasn't too long ago that we heard about the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, and about the revival of spirit among the new generation. We can still hear the echoes of John Kennedy's call to action and see the vision of Martin Luther King's dream. Before he and his dream were shot down in 1968, he said we as a people "would get to the promised land." The promise seems empty now, yet the planetary cycles support his prophecy. For what we discover when we examine these cycles is compelling evidence that a renaissance and a golden age is right around the corner."
"You are probably familiar with the term New Age, and you may have heard or read about the dawning of the Age of Aquarius. This simply means that we are leaving one age (Pisces), and entering into a new one (Aquarius). This happens every two thousand years - the last one coinciding with the arrival of Christ.
What does this have to do with you? Well, it has quite a lot to do with you and everyone else on the planet. For a start, if you haven't already undergone any changes, you might be feeling the urge to change now, or you may be witnessing changes around you. Either way, you will certainly be aware that life on planet Earth seems to be going off the rails in one way or another.
This is characteristic of the changing of the Ages as people struggle to adapt to the new energies. You will also have noticed certain major developments - such as science, computers and technology, all of which are now forming the backbone of our society. UFO's, alternative medicine, astrology, vegetarianism and other subjects previously considered weird or cranky are growing rapidly in popularity, and are all subjects associated with the sign of Aquarius. These subjects will become more and more commonplace, and astrology and other 'mystical' methods of self-help and understanding will help people to become more in tune with their spiritual selves in preparation for the New Age.
People are already beginning to look within for the answers they seek, instead of outwards to money, possessions and other people. The more enlightened members of society will welcome the New Dawn with its emphasis on humanity, kindness, truth, spirituality and enlightenment." 2You also probably have heard the song, Age of Aquarius, "the one about the time when Jupiter aligns with Mars. Well, there's really more to it than that, as Jupiter and Mars align relatively often. What's really remarkable about this epoch is the powerful change that will sweep through our world, the shift in mood, action and intention that is already palpable. The estimated start date is thought to be sometime around the millennium, but, though its exact start date is contested among astrologers, astronomers, theologians and others, the effects of the Age of Aquarius have already been felt." 3This Golden Age is destined to synthesize all religious regimes and free the minds of ignorance and delusion forever. Once enlightened, each human being will begin his or her individual journey within, and strive to become the new race of super conscious humans awakening seekers of Truth and the eternal Spirit, healing peoples of many tongues and nations in the process. In this new millennium there will be no more falsehoods or derision, but spiritual living and third-eye vision. The Human Family is truly entering the Age of mystic revelations and the mind's true liberation which is broadly known as
spiritualism.
The deep spiritual insight and knowledge of Dan Costian’s (Ph.D) Bible Enlightened best describes the Age of Aquarius. His explanation of the historical significance of astrological signs that gave birth to distinct ages serves as celestial landmarks that guide to review and re-chart the future of mankind and the planet Earth. But before that a word of caution about present pulse of the New Age:"The Reality and the Fakery
What is good about the New Age
The "New Age" is actually a synthesis of many different beliefs and currents of thought, the emphasis being on a rejection of the limitations of reductionist materialism and an emphasis on the way that one can alter one's personal reality through the application of belief, visualisation, and positive affirmation. In a sense it is a spiritual awakening, an activation of the "theosphere", an integration of holistic healing, alternative spirituality, esotericism, environmental sensitivity, alternative life-styles, awareness of other dimensions of existence, and attunement to the cosmos. What is bad about the New Age (and how to avoid the pitfalls)
Unfortunately, as with all such movements, the New Age has fallen prey to all manner of fakes and charlatans and rip-off merchants. These can fortunately be avoided by a simple rule of thumb. i.e.: if anyone asks you for money before giving you a mantra, cleansing your aura, raising your vibration, awakening your kundalini, taking you on a vision quest, initiating you into hermetics, or anything else, they are a fake and to be avoided like the plague. . . .
note regarding clairvoyants: there are many psychics and clairvoyants who ask for money for aura readings etc. Although this may seem like a fair service, remember that these people are psychics, they are not spiritual. They have an awakening into the etheric and astral (lower psychic) planes. They do not necessarily (or even) have a spiritual awakening.
This is a simple fact: a true spiritual teacher never asks for money.
Once you have this simple fact at hand, you may explore the weird and wonderful world of the New Age (or what insignificant amount there is of left of it once the profit-mongers and greed merchants are eliminated) at your leisure!
What else is bad about the New Age
Another problem that characterises the New Age is an absolute lack of critical thinking. People will believe all sorts of nonsense, and are very susceptible to negative suggestions from formations in the lower astral plane. A good example of this is the incredible popularity of the belief in catastrophic "earth changes". This has absolutely no basis in fact, and there will be a lot a red faces when the millennium rolls around and California and Japan and where-ever else hasn't sunk beneath the waves, the earth hasn't tilted on it's axis, people's DNA hasn't been miraculously transformed, etc etc
Of course, all the people who propound these prophecies will have explanations - e.g. it really did happen, but on the subtle level. Or mankind has been granted a period of grace. Or the spiritual powers changed their minds.
The best attitude that can be taken is to integrate New Age and scientific thinking, in order to get the best from both, and avoid falling into the pitfalls that comes from one-sided allegiance to either extreme." 4
Back to Dan Costian's research on the Age of aquarius. According to him these ages are "determined by the equinox precession, were shown to last approximately two thousand years and they were called by the name of the sign of the zodiac crossed during the interval. For each and every age there corresponded an aeon, i.e. the revealing of a new divine attribute by the incarnation of a new avatar.
